ABOUT PHIL
One life. A few extraordinary turns.
And a lot of stories.
PHIL COATES PALGRAVE
Phil Coates Palgrave grew up in Rhodesia and Zimbabwe, and spent part of his childhood in Botswana. His early years were shaped by the wide-open spaces and freedom of southern Africa, and by a lifelong curiosity about life and what might be possible.
After school, Phil moved to South Africa and explored a number of different paths before eventually finding his way into computers and technology. His adventurous nature later took him into the wilderness, where he became a qualified river guide.
A life-changing event brought that career to an abrupt end, and Phil had to learn to live with one leg. The years that followed brought recovery, new challenges and a completely different chapter of his life.
Along the way, he met his wife, Yolandi, and together they built a family and raised two daughters.
Phil's adventurous nature never disappeared. One day, sitting quietly and asking what sport might take him to the Olympics, a single word came into his mind: archery. He followed that thought, and five years later competed at the Tokyo Paralympic Games.
He continues to shoot today, with his sights set on Los Angeles 2028.
Running quietly alongside all of this has been a lifelong interest in consciousness, meditation, healing and the possibilities that may exist beyond what we're normally taught to believe.
That curiosity eventually became part of the journey that led to RISE and the evolution of Get Unplugged.
Phil had wanted to write his book for almost twenty years, but life, business and family never seemed to create the right circumstances.
Then, at the age of 56, the opportunity finally arrived.
He took it — and RISE was born.
Phil doesn't claim to have all the answers.
He's simply continuing to ask the questions.
